I am passionate about supporting people to live happier, healthier and less stressful lives through Mindfulness and meditation practices. For many years I suffered from anxiety and depression and discovered Mindfulness by accident, booking on a course which I was very curious about and which I knew nothing about. It has been life changing for me, enabling me to live in the present moment much more rather than engaging in ‘mental time travel’ of either dwelling and ruminating on troublesome events from the past or worrying about events in the future.
A few years previously I was attending a confirmation in a church and I can remember the bishop saying that we have all been given different gifts and the importance of sharing these gifts with others rather than being selfish with them.
I became very passionate about Mindfulness and decided to train to become a practitioner to share this knowledge with others so as to support them to overcome their difficulties. This has been very rewarding for me, seeing people overcoming their troublesome difficulties not allowing their past to be a prison or fear preventing them from what they truly want from life and living happier, more fulfilling lives and moving themselves positively forwards.
I am also a qualified therapeutic counsellor and a full member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling Psychotherapists).
Living in the present moment I discovered has meant that life can be far more fulfilling when we are fully focused in the here and now. When we disengage ‘the autopilot’ in our heads we can soon discover that life can be far richer and more interesting than when we are dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.
As I feel that Mindfulness has such huge potential to support children with their challenges and difficulties. I trained to be a Paws b teacher with the Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP) charity. I have delivered this programme to The Beacon School in Amersham, Bucks which was very positively received by both the staff and pupils.
I am also a qualified counsellor having completed a Level 4 Diploma In Therapeutic Counselling and a 3 year counselling placement at No 22 counselling
agency in Maidenhead, Berkshire. I am also a full memeber of the British Association of Counselling Psychotherapists (BACP).
