Decades of research have demonstrated that work plays a major role in determining physical and psychological health and have highlighted the co-dependence between individual health and organisational performance, and its implications for wider society.
According to the UK Labour Force Survey, in 2007 an estimated 2 million people each year suffered from what they considered to be work-related ill health. As a result, organisations have been encouraged to adopt strategies designed to reduce the potential threats and risks to health inherent in the workplace. At the same time, it has been the prevailing view that individuals have a fundamental personal responsibility to maintain their own health by adopting sensible lifestyle habits, and that organisations can do much to encourage their employees to reassess their health status and promote more positive health behaviours.
I have delivered well-being programmes to several corporate companies in London including: Arcc, Leo Burnett and S Three. I was also a part of GE Healthcare's Health Ahead programme presenting talks on Mindfulness and Well-Being. I also delivered the Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy programme to approx. 30 members of the teaching staff at The Beacon School, Amersham, Bucks and to Egerton Rothersay School in Berkhamsted.
I am currently delivering the 8 week Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) programme to Egerton Rothersay school in Berkhamsted.
As well as the well-being programmes that I run I have delivered Mindfulness presentations to the NHS, Thames Valley Police, O2 employees, and Youth Care workers at Hertfordshire County Council on their well-being days. Last November I was a part of Curry's PC World's Black Friday's sale weekend programme writing recommendations for their website to support shopper's to manage their stress during the promotional weekend.
I have recently participated in a radio interview regarding the benefits of meditation on Voice of Islam radio. The recording occurs at approx. 62mins on the podcast:

Corporate feedback
Feedback comments from Mindfulness session I delivered at GE Healthcare:
Corporate testimonials
"John has also delivered some wellbeing coaching sessions on topics including stress management, mindfulness, meditation, self confidence, self esteem, goal setting, weight management and fitness programmes. The sessions have been well received by the staff and people have found them to be useful to gain insight into how to deal and manage their stress and how they can improve their general health and wellbeing. The wellbeing programme delivered by John is an ongoing service that we offer to our personnel with the aim of them taking responsibility for their own health, fitness and wellbeing"
Diana Cawley, managing director of Arcc
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank John Lingley for the wellbeing day that he provided for us here at S Three. It consisted of him providing 1:1 coaching sessions in the areas of fitness training, nutrition, weight management, goal setting and stress management.
The sessions were very well received by our staff and surveys carried out on the effectiveness of the sessions resulted in most of the participants feeling motivated to make changes to their lifestyle.
John also provided an interactive workshop for 12 members of staff on stress management, which included coping strategies, self responsibility, flexible thinking, self acceptance and visualisation techniques.
The workshop was also well received and handouts were given with coping strategies for the staff to use if feeling stressed. Also John explained to us how to change our thinking so as to be more effective at how we react to stressful situations when they present themselves.
I would recommend John’s wellbeing workshop days to other companies and individuals as I feel that the service provided is of a high professional standard and is very beneficial for the health and wellbeing of employees."
Alex Smith, Finance Director - S Three, London
