“I first started using John to improve my fitness. During this time we also started some coaching and teaching me about mindfulness. I found that mindfulness was truly amazing and really helped me to handle long and stressful days at work. Then out of the blue while on my honeymoon a was struck down by a virus which resulted in near total heart failure. I went from being super fit to then having six heart attacks and being on life support. This was the starting point of a year living in hospital waiting for a heart transplant and fighting for life. John found out what had happened and visited me frequently in hospital. John helped me teach myself how to cope with the situation use mediation to calm my thoughts and relax. Its true that you can't stop the thoughts that you have but you can control how you react to them. I learnt that in a situation when I had no control if you control your thoughts you can be calm, logical and relaxed. After the transplant we continued the coaching to help me transition to my new life. I have taken all my experiences and the tools John taught me to make me stronger and more thoughtful. After the transplant John continues to train me. John had no problems with supporting me and unbelievably got me back running! John also provided an interactive workshop for 12 members of staff on stress management, which included coping strategies, self responsibility, flexible thinking, self acceptance and visualisation techniques.
